Meeting of the amateur satellite operators at HAM RADIO 2025 at the AMSAT-DL stand & highlights from the joint dinner

Once again this year, numerous friends of amateur satellite communication came together at HAM RADIO in Friedrichshafen for a short meeting on Friday and Saturday afternoon at the AMSAT-DL stand in Hall A1.

Members of AMSAT-DL put a lot of effort into setting up a well-attended stand with information boards and various exhibits.

Among other things, engineering models of CubeSats, our ERMINAZ PocketQubes and a 3D-printed model of the Picobus Deployer were on display and could even be touched. A competent team gave practical advice and tips for receiving and transmitting via the LEO satellites and the geostationary QO-100 transponder.

Numerous presentations were also offered, such as this one on school contacts with Antarctica via QO-100 or on the ERMINAZ satellites.

In the evening, those who wanted to could continue their conversations with like-minded people at a social evening with food and entertainment. Around 100 satellite radio enthusiasts from 17 DXCC countries met at the evening event in a nearby pizzeria. A special highlight was the video message from AMSAT-DL President Peter, DB2OS, who provided information on current developments and future projects at AMSAT-DL. Unfortunately, Peter was unable to be there due to other commitments. The exciting presentation by Phil, KA9Q, aroused great interest, while Nicolas, F4JCK, described the challenges of the post-cyclone “Chido” activities on Mayotte with impressive pictures. The group photo that captures this special moment has now become a wonderful tradition. The evening was rounded off with an entertaining raffle with small prizes.

Our special thanks go to the entire organization team, the stand crew and the speakers: Nina DL2GRC, Matthias DD1US, Florian DF2ET, Charly DK3ZL, Guido DL9DBP, Stefan DH1DAC, Patrick DL4PD, Jens DH6BB, Mario DL5MLO, Holger DF2FQ and Jürgen DL8SDQ.

Our community of satellite enthusiasts and our association thrive on this voluntary work! And don’t forget: HAM RADIO will be followed by the 75th anniversary of the DARC in Kassel on August 30, where we will be present again, and our AMSAT symposium and general meeting at the Bochumer Weltraumtage from September 19 to 21, 2025. Of course we will also be back in Friedrichshafen in 2026, let us surprise you and support us!
